Pastor Jacqueline Faye Saunders-Johnson, Overseer

Jacqueline Faye Saunders-Johnson, the eldest daughter to the late Chief Apostle, Dr. Monroe R. Saunders Sr., and the late Mother Alberta B. Saunders - founders of the United Church of Jesus Christ, Apostolic, comes from a religious family having been born the second in line of six children (3 sisters and 2 brothers).

She is the product of the Baltimore City Public School System having graduated with honors from Forest Park Senior High School and from Morgan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. Pastor Jackie (as she is affectionately called) has pursued graduate coursework from the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD; Loyola University Pastoral Care Program, Columbia, MD; and the Masters International School of Divinity, Indiana.

Pastor Jackie married Bishop Robert E. Johnson, Sr. on December 27, 1969 and from this union has come 3 wonderful children: Keturah Desiree (Ebin), Katherine Faye, and Robert Johnson, Jr., Esquire (Leslie). She is the proud grandmother of 5 wonderful grandchildren: Nicholas, Robert Monroe, Kennedy, Amaya, and Kamryn.

In the secular world, Pastor Jackie has taught for a number of years in the Baltimore City Public School System as a music teacher. She ended her teaching career by retiring from the St. Mark Catholic School in Catonsville, MD in June, 2012, after serving as the vocal music teacher and the choir director for 14 years.

In the church, Pastor Jackie has served as the National Minister of Music for the United Church for many years. She has given concerts across this country, Europe, Canada, and Jamaica. In 2017 Pastor Johnson was elevated to the position of Overseer within the United Church of Jesus Christ.

It was in 1977 that she first heard the call to expand her ministry beyond the musical scales. In 1985, she was consecrated as an evangelist and in 1996, she was elevated to be an ordained Elder and became the co-pastor with her husband of the New Jerusalem Praise Tabernacle (formerly known as New Jerusalem Deliverance Temple) where The Power is in the Love and the Deliverance is in your Praise.

Upon the recommendation of her husband, Bishop Robert E. Johnson, Sr., Pastor Jackie was consecrated and installed as the Pastor of New Jerusalem Praise Tabernacle in July, 2002. This anointed woman of God is chosen and sent by God to be a weapon against Satan. She is a woman full of the Holy Spirit and Power that the Lord is using in these last days. She has the gift of laying on of hands and is known for her deliverance ministry and work at the altar. She is well qualified to preach and teach the Word of God, for she has a praying spirit and will yield herself to the Lord. She has been a blessing to the United Church worldwide, her family, her local church, community, and the body of Christ.

In 2013 the woman of God added yet another title to her list of credits; author. Pastor Johnson is the author of a powerful and well-received 12 month devotional entitled Meditations From The Minstrel. In this writing she has again proven herself as a teacher, encourager, and anointed, insightful vessel for the Lord.   Pastor Jackie released her second book in 2018, ‘It Is Well With My Soul: Using Traditional Hymns To Heal Your Contemporary Heart.’  She explains the meaning and purpose behind older, traditional hymns and uses them to lead to healing for the 21st century heart.

Since March, 2020, The Lord created a new platform for Pastor Jackie. She has ministered in music from her living room on her piano, using her iPhone/Facebook, an "Hour of Praise."  Her husband, Bishop Robert, assists her from 9 to 10 5 days a week (Monday - Friday).  God has blessed her to reach 9 countries and 29 states nightly.

Her foremost prayer is found in the words of the song: “Jesus use me, and Oh Lord don’t refuse me.- For surely there’s a work that I must do. And even though it’s humble, Lord help my will to crumble - And though the cost be great I’ll work for you.

“The Power Is In The Unconditional Love!”
